W2k EventLog Report

Version 1.3.4 is released July 6, 2004
As an domain administrator it's important to check your servers eventlogs daily. This takes a lot of time, connecting to each server, and browsing application, system and security eventlogs, and a lot of them each day,
and newer remembering which old eventlogs you already examined.

With this program you can easily schedule a daily intranet-report (html) without duplicates, and only the eventlogs since last scheduled run.

It will send you an email with number of logs found since last time, and with a link to your intranet-report.

The intranet-report automatically links to www.microsoft.com/technet/support and www.eventid.net on each
event-id and event-source found since last run, and if customized an email-link to your helpdesk-supportcenter.

The reports are placed in subfolders for each year for easy history or deleting old unused logs.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTICE:

The source codes for this program was lost in 2005 because both the computer and the backup server crashed at the same time, so there isn't any option to reconstruct the Product, but the setup.exe file was uploaded to the website at www.tryware.dk, so you can still download the installer and use the Product.

But the unchangeable user dialog tells the following options that no longer works:
  1. When ending the installer and startiing the program the first time, you are asked to select the Free Trial button or the Buy License button.
  2. If you don't buy a license, you are always asked to select the Buy License button or the Free Trial button.
  3. The program works with all your servers the first 90 days of the trial, and after that only for 2 servers .
  4. The license doesn't allow more than the 2 servers unless you buy the program.
  5. The created intranet html report file are provided with links to www.microsoft.com/technet/support and www.eventid.net on each event-id and event-source found.
  6. The created intranet html report file are provided with specified links to ID on www.eventid.net and with specified link to SOURCE on www.microsoft.com/technet/support

Instead you need to do the following:

  1. You need to select the Free Trial button, because you can't buy the program, and if you select the Buy License button, the rest of the program isn't installed, so you need to select the Free Trial button.
  2. You must always select the Free trial button.
  3. You can use all your servers the first 90 days of the trial period, but after that your only option is to use only 2 servers. If you need to use more than 2 servers in the created intranet html report file, the only option is to install the program on several serverss, and manually change the servers.ini file to two different servers on each server, but then you get different intranet html report file on different servers with only 2 servers in each intranet html report file.
  4. The license is now changed to 100% Freeware for unlimited number of servers, if you use several computers to solve the limit of 2 servers.
  5. The link in the created intranet html report file to www.microsoft.com/technet/support responds with an error.
You need to manually type the ID and and Source on www.eventid.net (You can see it in the address line in your browser).
  6. The link in the created intranet html report file to https://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx works without error, but you need to manually type the program name, the ID and Source. (You can actually see the ID and Source "hidden" in the address line in your browser, but it's easier to note it before using the link)
